So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints, and are of God’s household, Ephesians 2:19

It’s interesting that this quote from Ephesians, used just a few weeks ago in reference to immigrants among us, also calls us to see our relationship with one another as the nuclear church or domestic church. The family in Christ is more than a civil contract. To be a family calls us to see and perceive as well as be the presence of God, a community gathered at a table like the Trinity. Being family calls us beyond our wants and into recognizing and responding to the needs of others.

The family is called a domestic church because it is a small communion of persons that both draws its sustenance from the larger communion hat is the whole body of Christ, the church, and also reflects the life of the church so as to provide a kind of summary of it.

The Christian family Catechism of the Catholic Church
2204 “The Christian family constitutes a[n] ‚Ķ ecclesial communion‚Ķand should be called a domestic church.” It is a community of faith, hope, and charity; it assumes singular importance in the Church, as is evident in the New Testament.
2205 The Christian family is a communion of persons, a sign and image of the communion of the Father and the Son in the Holy Spirit. In the procreation and education of children it reflects the Father’s work of creation. It is called to partake of the prayer and sacrifice of Christ. Daily prayer and the reading of the Word of God strengthen it in charity. The Christian family has an evangelizing and missionary task.

2206 The relationships within the family bring an affinity of feelings, affections and interests, arising above all from the members’ respect for one another.

2207 The family is the original cell of social life. Authority, stability, and a life of relationships within the family constitute the foundations for freedom, security, and fraternity within society. The family is the community in which, from childhood, one can learn moral values, begin to honor God, and make good use of freedom. Family life is an initiation into life in society.

The Church also calls us to see in the “cell” of the family the “economy” (the management of the “house” [eco]) of relating as the Trinity. Father, Son and Spirit are one and the same with shared yet differing responsibilities. If it be the Prodigal Son/Father, the Woman at the Well, raising the son of the widow, eating at Zachaeus’ or Mathew’s tables, the Good Samaritan, the Ceder together with the disciples, the giving responsibility to John and Mary at the cross: Jesus is clear that our household is the care for one another.

La Iglesia Doméstica

Por lo tanto, ustedes ya no son extraños ni extranjeros, sino conciudadanos de los *santos y miembros de la familia de Dios. Efesios 2:19

Es interesante esta referencia de los Efesios, usada apenas hace unas semanas con respecto a los inmigrantes entre nosotros. Se nos hace un llamado para que consideremos nuestra relaciones como Iglesia Nuclear o Iglesia domestica. La Familia en Cristo es mas que un contrato civil. Por lo tanto para ser una verdadera familia debemos estar atentos y saber percibir la presencia de Dios a ejemplo de la Santísima Trinidad. Viviendo así como familia estaremos dispuestos para responder a las necesidades de los demás.

La Familia es llamada Iglesia domestica porque es una pequeña comunión de personas que manifestó la Comunión del cuerpo de Cristo que es la Iglesia y reflejan la unidad y la vida en el.

La Familia Cristiana El Catecismo de la Iglesia Católica
2204. ‘La familia cristiana constituye…la comunión eclesial; debe decirse iglesia doméstica’. Es una comunidad de fe, esperanza y caridad, posee en la Iglesia una importancia singular como aparece en el Nuevo Testamento.

2205 La familia cristiana es una comunión de personas, reflejo e imagen de la comunión del Padre y del Hijo en el Espíritu Santo. Su actividad procreadora y educativa es reflejo de la obra creadora de Dios. Es llamada a participar en la oración y el sacrificio de Cristo. La oración cotidiana y la lectura de la Palabra de Dios fortalecen en ella la caridad. La familia cristiana es evangelizadora y misionera.

2206 Las relaciones en el seno de la familia entrañan una afinidad de sentimientos, afectos e intereses que provienen sobre todo del mutuo respeto de las personas.

2207 La familia es la ‘célula original de la vida social’. La autoridad, la estabilidad y la vida de relación en el seno de la familia constituyen los fundamentos de la libertad, de la seguridad, de la fraternidad en el seno de la sociedad. La familia es la comunidad en la que, desde la infancia, se pueden aprender los valores morales, se comienza a honrar a Dios y a usar bien de la libertad. La vida de familia es iniciación a la vida en sociedad.

La Iglesia nos llama para descubrir en el centro de la familia la economía familiar que esta representada por el Padre de familia que debe reaccionarse a ejemplo de la Trinidad. Compartiendo responsabilidades, no despilfarrando lo que tienen: Ensénales sobre Zaqueo, Mateo, y el Buen Samaritano. También Jesús nos dice Padres tomen la responsabilidad de Juan y María al pie de la Cruz, que fue una total donación y entrega. Así pues esta mu claro; el cuidado del hogar debe estar custodiado de unos a otros
